I think you know by now that I love a great vintage find – what a great way to add character to your home, save money, and keep things out of the landfill.
My latest treasure is a marble-topped coffee table I found on Craigslist. I looked for a few weeks before finding something the right size and style for our space. This table has just enough curves and details to show its history – the seller said, it was his grandmother’s from the 1950s – without being overly ornate or fussy.
A quick paint job in glossy black gave the base of the table an elegant new look, and there was a small chip in the marble top that I repaired.
I think our living room is finally complete, so I will post some more pictures of the space soon!

Ooh — I love it. And love how finished your room looks. I am just hopeless at interior design, and wish I had an iota of your skill. I have barren walls, and honestly do not know how to fill all the spaces in our living rooms. I don’t know how/where to put art, how to group it together, or even how to situate my furniture. I feel like our house looks like a college residence! I watch HGTV compulsively, and have for years, but nothing seems to rub off. I’m getting frustrated with myself!!
Thanks for the compliment, Janice. I definitely still have lots to learn, too. As I’m sure you know from work, it’s possible to have a great shot with total chaos just beyond the edge if the frame, and there’s a bit of that around here! If you feel like it, send some pics of a space or project you’d like to work on, and we can brainstorm a bit together! You’ll see that in my posts on growth charts and large doorways – I was researching ideas for friends. PS. HGTV is my obsession, too! Candice Olson, Sarah Richardson, and Sabrina Soto are my favorites. I also like creating Pinterest boards for projects, so it’s easier to get an idea of what you’re drawn to, like if you notice the same fabrics or colors show up multiple times in pictures you like.
