Our pup Finn howls when he hears sirens, so I thought he would be super cute in a firefighter costume for Halloween. Of course, I decided this three days before Halloween, so I figured out how to make him a costume from things around the house.
Here’s what I used:
- red swim shorts, outgrown by my boys
- neon yellow shoe laces
- fabric paint
Here’s how I did it:
- Cut open the inside seam between the legs (first picture below)
- Cut out the lining
- Sew the back seam into a straight line
- Cut holes for the front legs (second picture below)
- Trim the front, so the costume does not reach anywhere near when your pup pees 🙂
- Paint on a firefighter logo (third picture below)
- Sew on stripes with the shoe laces
Here’s a picture of the finished costume from the side to give you an idea of the shape. The back should be straighter, but I was making up as I went, and I had to alter it after I had already painted.
And here is how the costume looks from the back:
Happy Halloween!
