My work family is getting ready to welcome the fourth baby this year! I decided to change it up from the rainbow scrap quilts, and I thought this Swiss cross pattern would be a great fit for Caitlin’s style. I used my new favorite rainbow border, and at the last minute, I added a surprise to the back!

I love the clean lines of this pattern, and I added personality with some special fabrics – a DNA print and fabric from my own baby blanket! With all the open white area, I had wanted to try free-motion quilting, but I learned I was not ready for that! I ended up creating some more complex patterns that still used straight lines, and I’m happy with how it turned out!
I finished the quilt while Steve and I were on vacation at the cutest Air BnB, so obviously some pictures were necessary!

Here’s my favorite rainbow binding!

I mentioned there was a surprise on the back of the quilt! After the quilt was finished, I found out that classic Pooh is part of Caitlin’s nursery theme! My family loved Winnie-the-Pooh, and I have a few scraps of vintage Pooh bear fabric. I used those to appliqué some little circles to the back of the quilt!

Caitlin’s baby shower is inspired by the Great British Baking Show, and I’m looking forward to sharing those photos soon!
